CAPE TOWN CHALLENGE 2010
Following last year’s first, “CAPE TOWN CHALLENGE” will again take course this year between the dates of April 15th and April 23rd. We deliberately chose these dates taking into account the clement weather still in the tourism season, as well as higher fish availability probabilities. These dates coincide with the run of both “Yellowfin” and “Albacore” Tuna species, by us caught last year at 75+kg and 30+kg weights respectively.
As it was for last year, this year too was agreed with Sean Amor & Team, based in Hout Bay Marina. Compared instead to last year, we increased the boat sizes, with the smallest being 28’ and the large ones 32’. Again skippered by the well experienced captains we met last year, all boats will be completely equipped with world-standard fish-catching gear.
A total of 10 boats have been allocated for our teams, and as we defined the teams based on three (3) contestants per boat, the number of anglers will be therefore limited to 30 in total. We also have limited contingency for those who would like to accompany the anglers without going to sea. Cape Town and its surroundings are quite interesting to visit, its people are relatively entertaining and dining & wining is absolutely good.
As we already know the area, our hotel selection was also different this year. The “Chapman’s Peak Beach Hotel” located right on the beach of Hout Bay’s shoreline. A place we believe you will enjoy with its location, its rooms, and tastes.
This year’s participation fees will be of Euro 2350 (forest view) / Euro 2550 (sea view). For those non-seagoing guests, it will be Euro 1350 (forest view) / Euro1550 (sea-view). The fares include all transfers, hotel accommodation, breakfast, boats and gear, 3 competing days at sea, participation fees and gala dinner costs. Please ask for the single and se view supplement.
As you probably already know, there is no visa requirement for Turkish citizens and THY flies direct. Because of issues such as mileage points and different passenger class preferences, airplane tickets purchase will have to be taken care of by the participants themselves. THY has direct flights, as we are suggesting below. Furthermore, Miss Müge from Setur İzmir (Tel’s: +90 232 488 06 36 +90 232 488 06 36 Direct line) will be delighted to accomodate your ticketing needs. She is well informed and experienced about this trip.

The timeframe for both hotel accomodation and boats is quite restricted. The participants are therefore kindly requested to confirm their registrations and their flight arrangements by January 30th 2010 at the latest.
Looking forward to meet on this forthcoming trip we hope to be plentiful of fish and good times.
