As it happened last year, this year as well 7800 Çeşme Residences and Hotel will be the main sponsor for the Alaçatı İnternational Offshore Fishing Tournament, which will be held between the dates of October 29th and November 2nd, 2008, and hosted by the Alaçatı Marina.
The first tournament was held last year between October 26th and October 29th, for the first time ever in Turkey, again sponsored by 7800 Çeşme, and 21 boats with more than 80 people participated. The well acclaimed tournament saw the Greek team on “Alsium” grab the first “overall” category prize of 3,000 $US, with two Bluefin Tunas of 16.550 kg and 16.200 kg. In the same category we have seen “Mr. Chips” earn the second prize, and “Seray” the third prize. At the same time, “Mr. Chips” won the “Largest Catch” prize with a Bluefin Tuna of 16,650 kg. And last but not least, “Papalina” received the special award, being judged by the committee as the “most endeavoring team”.
This year we expect a participation of 40 boats, all geared and rigged to world standards, and over 150 anglers, for the same tournament, again under the auspices of our main sponsors 7800 Çeşme. Greece, who participated with two boats last year, is planning to join with around 10 vessels. We also expect participation from countries like Italy and Croatia.
Winning vessels will be the owners of many gifts, besides a total prizes basket of 8,500 $US.
Amongst the other sponsors, are names like Shimano, a must in fishing tackle, and other sector leaders such as Volkswagen Marine, Mercan Yacthing and CMS. The logistics will again be offered by Land Rover-Özgörkey Otomotiv, with the same sportsman spirit. Whilst Gant will take place next to the contenders with the wind and sea. And Port Balık will as usual continue to keep our taste buds satisfied on shore with goodies from the seas.
Amongst the contenders we expect to see well known names from the business world and International tournament participation and winning experience, such as Mustafa Taviloğlu, Hakan Dalokay, İskender Atakan, Murat İyriboz, Elvio Pennetti, Berent Akdemir, Ömer Gençtürk and Cem Boyner.
The Rules to apply for the tournament will be based on the IGFA Rules and the worldwide standards of Offshore Fishing will be the running criteria.
